Big Band Sounds

Picture of full band at Shaw Island Performance Feb 2010 Our music consists of a wide variety of great dance and show tunes. It is modeled after much of the music performed starting in the 1930's by such greats as Count Basie, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington. Our repertoire includes a wide variety of songs and instrumentals such as "Blue Skies", "Sweet Georgia Brown", "In the Mood", "Just One of Those Things", "Man With a Horn", and "Take Five". Music styles vary including Latin, ballads, medium and fast swing - with many jazz solos.

We have performed in many venues including concert halls, parks, and dance halls.

The Skagit Swings Band's 18 musicians include 5 Saxophones, 4 Trombones, 4 Trumpets, 4 rhythm instruments (piano, bass, guitar & drums), and a great vocalist. We all belong because we enjoy music.
